Terms of Service

Last updated: July 14, 2026

By creating an account or using UniVerse (the "Service"), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service. We try to keep the legalese minimal; the spirit is "use this in good faith and we'll do the same."

1. Eligibility and account

You must be at least 13 years old. The Service is designed for college and graduate students. You're responsible for keeping your password secure and for everything done under your account.

2. What you can do

3. What you can't do

4. Academic integrity

The Service reads the AI policy in each course's syllabus and holds itself to it. What UniVerse will do in a given class, from an answer in chat to an artifact it writes onto your page, is bound by what that professor allows. Where a syllabus is silent, or where we cannot read a policy from it, the Service applies its default: it refuses direct answers on work it detects as graded, and teaches the reasoning instead.

This is a feature, not a guarantee. Policies change, syllabi are ambiguous, and we can misread one. You remain responsible for following your institution's and your instructor's academic policies, and for checking the policy yourself where it matters. UniVerse is not liable if you use the Service in ways that violate your school's rules.

5. AI output

Cosmo's answers are generated by large language models and can be wrong, incomplete, or outdated. Always verify against your course materials. Don't make important decisions (medical, legal, academic deadlines, etc.) based solely on Cosmo's output. Citations link to sources you uploaded — those sources are your authoritative reference, not the AI's interpretation.

6. Your content

You own your content (notes, uploaded readings, chats). You grant UniVerse a limited license to store, process, and display that content as needed to operate the Service. We do not sell your content, share it with advertisers, or use it to train AI models. See the Privacy Policy for full details.

7. Pricing

The Service has a free tier and a paid subscription. Paid plans are billed monthly through Stripe and you can cancel at any time from Settings; cancelling stops future charges and leaves your account on the free tier. We'll give existing users notice before changing how their account is billed. Some features are rate-limited on the free tier (for example, daily AI quota) to keep it sustainable.

8. Service changes and availability

We may update, modify, or discontinue features at any time. We try not to break things, but we're a small team and the Service is in active development. We don't guarantee uptime, and the Service is provided "as is" without warranty.

9. Termination

You can delete your account any time from Settings → Account → Delete. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms (especially the "what you can't do" list) without notice.

10. Liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, UniVerse is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from use of the Service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of New York.

12. Changes to these terms

If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top and notify signed-in users. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
